Thor is my shadow these days. I change rooms and he joins, I sit at my desk and he settles in behind me for a nap. His recent cancer diagnosis has hit hard. His presence, his unconditional love and companionship is something I will never take for granted and is genuinely hard to describe. The love of a dog is so true.
That’s also why I can deeply understand what pets mean to our Hosts. When our Host Bruce told us he wasn’t sure he could continue to care for his beloved dog Arco until his Joey Nayaab made it possible, I made sure to wait until I was back in my car before shedding a few tears. Tears of gratitude for what a dog’s love can mean, and tears of joy that we could serve Bruce and Arco and Nayaab.
During her first few weeks living with Bruce and Arco, I asked Nayaab what one of her favorite things had been so far about being a Joey. Her reply? “First off, my new buddy Arco! He’s basically a big teddy bear, and I’ve loved getting to know him over these first few days. He’s definitely made settling in feel a little more fun!”
If you know someone who needs an extra hand with their beloved doggo, don’t hesitate to call us. We get it. withjoey.com
And if you are a student, missing the love of dog from home, consider becoming a Joey. We’d love to meet you.
