At JoeyCo, we've created a program that benefits older adults and college students alike. Joeys are live-in employees who earn wages for helping you and pay rent for room in your home. Hosting gives you an affordable option to live safely and comfortably at home, maintaining your independence and gaining a reliable companion for peace of mind. College students live comfortably with affordable rent and earn money with a flexible job, reducing the financial burden of higher education and gaining a deeper sense of community. It's a partnership that fosters community and support on all sides. With a Joey, you receive cost-effective assistance while enjoying your best years at home.
We welcome older adults who need a little extra help here and there and local college students who are looking for what living with and working for a Host can offer to them. Our process is designed to create harmonious matches between Hosts and students, where you welcome a student into your home and that student provides assistance tailored to your needs. Our prospective Joeys come from diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique skills and talents. We can’t wait to find you a knitting enthusiast or a green thumb!
JoeyCo makes the entire process seamless and supportive for our Hosts. Our process is designed with your comfort and safety in mind to ensure a compatible living arrangement. We will meet with you to discuss the job description for your Joey that will make your life easier. We carefully select students based on your preferences and requirements, giving you the chance to interview and get to know them before proceeding. We handle additional vetting for your security (including national criminal background checks for all participants) ensuring your peace of mind and a secure environment for all participants. We also assist you in becoming both an employer and a landlord, taking care of all the administrative nitty gritty. When the perfect match is confirmed, we guide you through the process of welcoming your Joey into your home and our dedicated support team is here for you every step of the way, offering ongoing assistance and resources to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing success.
You may be a good Host if:
You would love to build a connection with and support a local college student
You can think of a few things around the house you could use help with or chores you’d like to have consistently taken care of
You have safe living conditions, which include having a private room with a lockable door for your Joey to occupy and a dedicated bathroom for their use
You are able to pass a national criminal background check
