Hi, I’m Nanik!

Nanik Tagore, First Joey & Marketing Coordinator

Nanik Tagore, First Joey and now Marketing Coordinator for JoeyCo

My name is Nanik and I'm the first-ever Joey. I've been living with my Host family, Robert and Paige, for over 600 days. And I'm not going anywhere.

I first connected with JoeyCo at a job fair during my sophomore year at Dominican University of California. I was a shooting guard on the men's basketball team trying to figure out how to afford living in one of the most expensive areas in the country. I took a chance on something brand new, a platform that didn't even have its first placement yet, and put my trust in Alison and JoeyCo to find me a good match. That leap turned into the living situation that changed my college experience.

People always ask me what it's like to live with a Host family. It's the short conversations in passing. It's knowing I'm not alone, but still having my own space and my own life. It's the little things that add up over 600 days into something you didn't expect. But if I'm being real, the moment that tells you everything about this arrangement is when I'd look up into the stands at my home basketball games and see Robert and Paige cheering in the crowd. They showed up to nearly every single one.

That's not a landlord. That's not a roommate. That's what JoeyCo is actually building.

I'm now finishing my final semester at Dominican, serving as Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President, and joining the JoeyCo team as Marketing Coordinator to help share this story with more people. If you're a student looking for affordable housing that actually feels like home, or a homeowner wondering if hosting is worth it, I'm living proof. Let's connect.
